The challenge
The Iowa 529 plan's website was hosted by the same organization that they partner with for recordkeeping and administrative services. That company was doing a great job with the recordkeeping and administrative services, but the website left much to be desired. They found the content management system difficult to work with, and the public-facing website was not user-friendly or appealing to the eye. Many of the site's applications and functionalities were tethered to the hosting company, so the Iowa 529 Plan's public-facing website remained under their control.
The solution
The Office of the Treasurer of the State of Iowa has multiple sites on SiteViz Premier and formed a close partnership with Global Reach over the last two decades. They approached Global Reach about creating a new public-facing website for the 529 Plan while having the password-protected functionalities hosted by their current hosting provider. Global Reach designed a visually appealing and playful website to suit their audience of families with children. The design includes many interactive elements on the homepage to draw users in. The company that formerly hosted the website moved its applications to a new domain, and Global Reach implemented 301 redirects to the pages. This eliminated the risk of broken links and created a seamless user experience for moving between the new website and the online functionaries hosted on a different site.
